In early October of 2002, Carole and Jay Furr decided to supplement their existing cat supply by adding a second cat – an "emergency backup cat", if you like. They visited the Humane Society of Chittenden County in South Burlington and brought home a fine little tortoiseshell kitten, whom they quickly named "Starlight" because of the golden dots here and there on her otherwise black fur. The head cat, Thursday, took a while to get used to having a sidekick, but as of this writing (March 2003), she seems to have adapted fairly well.
Starlight's not the brightest cat, but she's young, she means well, and she's a total love sponge. Whereas Thursday likes to be around people and once in a while likes a good lap, Starlight never saw a lap she didn't want to leap up into.
