Jay and Carole Furr's Southwestern Vacation

Jay and Carole Furr visited the Four Corners region of the USA in June and July of 2002.   They flew into Phoenix, Arizona on the evening of Thursday, June 27, 2002, visited Carole's aunt and uncle  in Tempe, then drove counter-clockwise around the Four Corners until their return to Phoenix and flight home on Sunday, July 7.

For what it's worth, they knew that they'd be visiting during the height of the summer, so they planned accordingly and stayed inside during the heat of the day.  They hiked, sight-saw, bought turquoise jewelry, kept an eye out for aliens, and when appropriate posed in front of local attractions with three stuffed animals: Martha the Lion Cub, Theo the Moose, and Sheldon the Guardian Seal.  (Lacking children to drag out West and pose for photos with, stuffed animals are the next best thing and much cheaper to feed.)
