In mid-September, 1998,
Carole and Jay Furr adopted a kitten from the Humane Society of Chittenden
County, Vermont. The small, scrawny white-and-ginger kitten came home on September
23, 1998, and soon took over the Furrs' house in Essex Junction.
A cat needs a name, of course, and Jay and Carole had no particular wish to select
a trite, clichéd name name like "Ginger" or "Muffin." After much stream-of-consciousness
free-association trading back and forth of proposed names, the name they settled
on was "The Cat Who Was Thursday," "Thursday" for short, after the classic G.K.
Chesterton novel, "The
Man Who Was Thursday."
The following "thumbnail" pictures of Thursday are presented for your enjoyment.
