For old time's sake: a photo of the old VTCOSY server at Virginia Tech. vtcosy.cns.vt.edu was host to a primitive conferencing system similar to USENET, but on a non-distributed basis. In other words, all the traffic stayed right on the server and never saw the light of day elsewhere. Many students at Virginia Tech had accounts and used them for social networking in the pre-World Wide Web days.
