Anne Stoops' Ginger Molasses Cookies

Melt shortening in 3 or 4 quart sauce pan over low heat.  Remove from heat, cool slightly.

Add the sugar, molasses, and egg.  Beat well.

Sift flour, salt, soda, cloves, ginger, and cinnamon.  Add to first mixture.

Mix well.

Chill for one hour.

Form in one-inch balls.

Roll in granulated sugar and placed on greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart.

Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.
